About BoM
A St. Louis-based project launched in 2024, Basics of Marketing exists to help people understand what the term “Marketing” actually means.
As a centralized, cohesive hub of knowledge that answers the question “What is Marketing?”, this website aims to provide a clearer, quicker, easier journey into learning Marketing than previously available.
In creating this website, the founding editor, Zane Creek, sought to solve for others a problem he experienced himself for far too long – the lack of a clear explanation as to what Marketing actually encompasses and consists of.
What Basics of Marketing Is and Is Not:
This project does not seek to teach everything there is to know about Marketing. Beyond the question of whether or not that is even possible, explaining Marketing in broad and general terms is a common theme you’ll find online, which this project avoids.
What Basics of Marketing does offer is an understanding of what Marketing actually is, broken down to its simplest components, therefore offering a lucid framework with which to build your own holistic understanding of the field and practice.
